1967ലെ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ ഇസ്രയേൽ പിടിച്ചെടുത്ത പ്രദേശങ്ങൾ തിരികെ പിടിക്കുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെ അറബ് സഖ്യം ഇസ്രയേലുമായി നടത്തിയ യുദ്ധമാണ് 1973ലെ അറബ് ഇസ്രയേൽ യുദ്ധം. യോംകിപ്പൂർ യുദ്ധം എന്നും ഇതിനെ വിളിക്കാറുണ്ട്. യഹൂദരുടെ ഏറ്റവും പുണ്യദിനമായ യോം കിപ്പൂർ നാളിൽ മിന്നലാക്രമണം നടത്തി മുന്നേറുക എന്ന തന്ത്രമാണ് അറബ് രാജ്യങ്ങൾ നടത്തിയത്. ഈജിപ്തും സിറിയൻ സൈന്യവും വെടിനിർത്തൽ രേഖകൾ മുറിച്ചു കടന്നതോടു കൂടി യുദ്ധം ആരംഭിച്ചു. അമേരിക്ക ഇസ്രായേലിനെയും, സോവിയറ്റ് യൂണിയൻ അറബ് രാജ്യങ്ങളെയും ഈ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പിന്തുണച്ചു.
