The Google sitemap is built as an XML file using special tags that describe your web content.
Webmasters can use this service to tell Google which pages are updated regularly and which pages are most important to the webmaster. Google can then use this information to decide which URLs get visited if they aren't going to be able to visit all of them that day.
AutoMapIt is a complete sitemap creation service, but it doesn't stop there. AutoMapIt can spider your site, upload your sitemaps, notify the search engines, provide broken link checking, keyword analysis (site-wide), and check your website for broken links.
We even offer you a site search box for your website based on the keywords we find while spidering your site AND this search supports special image code that you can place on your pages to associate pages with images. These images show up on your search results pages next to the listing they belong attached to. Profile images, product images, whatever you want associated with a certain URL on your site.
As Google Says...
"Now webmasters can inform Google about all their existing Web pages, prioritise the pages they want crawled first, and tell us when pages are updated so that Google can index new content faster."
The "change frequency" setting on your sitemap could be as often as always for stock tickers or as rarely as never for archived content or photo galleries of special events gone by. Many blogs update their sitemaps daily or weekly while busy forums may be updated hourly. There is usually a difference between the main page and inner content for these types of applications. Google does not consider the value of the change frequency to be 'commands' and merely uses them as suggestions. Using the change frequency accurately in your sitemaps will help both you and Google conserve bandwidth and allow them more time to spider your most important pages.
The "priority" setting in your sitemaps is an indication to Google of how important your URLs are in relation to each other. It does not affect the overall rank of your listing in their SERPs, but it is designed to help them to decide which of your URLs are more important to you (higher priority) in the result of a "tie" on their end or if they only have time to spider a few of your URLs today. Their scale is actually from 0.0 to 1.0, but AutoMapIt uses a 1-10 scale for simplicity sake within your account. The actual numbers that we assign in your sitemaps match Googles specification.
AutoMapIt is a unique sitemap generator service that will automatically re-spider your website and update your sitemaps without needing you to remember to make the update or using your time to keep your Google sitemaps up to date. AutoMapIt does it all!
